In the mid-2000’s, BotswanaPost introduced the use of self-adhesive computer scannable barcode labels. The use of this type of computer-coded label was first reported in 2005 in an short note by Peter Thy in which he shows a white label. He reported the use of a blue label in 2008.
Following those initial reports, Peter Jukes wrote a more comprehensive article in late 2008 describing a variety of sizes and colours of labels along with information on use and printing.
This was followed by an article in early 2009 Bruce Warrender and Neville Midwood and another by Peter Jukes in mid-2009 providing additional information.
